Johannesburg based skinjob MEKNZM releases ‘ENIGMA’, which is an interpretation of soundscapes and genres like drum & bass, IDM & ambient electronica which influence the overall sound and direction of the new approach in his latest music, which at first glance seems like it is a form of sound that has the ability to distort.

This central theme is explored in sonic contrasts as MEKNZM employs heavily contorted beats with the potential to destroy speakers, only to be salvaged from the brink of collapse by melodically dark and gritty chords.

The new sound came as a result of new songwriting methods that MEKNZM saw as mashing together seemingly disparate ideas that held completely different lives and energies all in order to achieve a sound that seemed like it was recovered from a crashed hardrive.

ENIGMA is a direct reflection of his personality which imitates a person or thing that is mysterious or difficult to understand.
